In Hoekwil, we are actually a bit scared to let the rest of the world know about this place, because once the world discovers us, Hoekwil will become vastly overpopulated! :-)

With magnificent sea, lake and mountain views, Hoekwil is as close to paradise as you will get. This little town is full of colourful local people, has fantastic accommodation and offers fantastic things to explore while here. It mainly consists of a church, a post office, two shops and a school- but don't be fooled into thinking that this is all there is to Hoekwil.

Hoekwil Hoopla Route

The route is a 30km journey, driving from Wilderness towards Knysna, up the Serpentine Pass and through the little village of  Hoekwil, towards the Outeniqua mountains.

The Big Tree

The “Big Tree”, a fossil estimated to be 850 years old is a great attraction In Hoekwil, especially for hikers. A clearly marked path leads in the forest, crossing a stream several times. Many of the trees are labelled so one can identify them.
